# AI SEO

The umbrella term for getting a site read and cited inside AI answers, and why it tells you little about what a course teaches.

By Editorial team. Definition in our words; usage count from the dataset (18 September 2026).

AI SEO is the working name for making a site visible inside AI answers as well as inside a ranked list of links. Classic SEO aimed at a position on a results page. AI SEO aims at being the source an assistant reads and cites. Its neighbours are narrower: GEO for generative engines and AEO for direct answers, while LLMO points at the models themselves. AI SEO is the wide label that holds those, plus the technical and measurement work around them: crawler access, structured data, brand mentions and counting how often you turn up in an answer. As a shopping filter, the term is close to useless. It is the category label for 44 of 44 programs (checked 18 September 2026), so the phrase on a sales page tells you almost nothing about what is taught inside. Read the curriculum flags instead: does the program cover crawler access, measurement, local work, and are those claims confirmed or still unverified?

## Example

A software company sees traffic fall as AI answers handle its comparison queries. The team moves the direct answer to the top of each page, adds schema so the facts are machine-readable, allows AI crawlers in robots.txt, then tracks how often the brand gets named when people ask assistants for alternatives. All of that sits under AI SEO.
